Auto Insurance Costs for New Drivers?

Hi everyone,

Trying to figure out what kind of auto insurance rates I should expect for a new driver. What are the factors that could affect the cost, and how can I keep it affordable? Would love to hear some insights or personal experiences!

Thanks in advance!

Auto insurance costs for new drivers are higher due to perceived risk. Factors like age, driving history, and vehicle type influence rates. Discounts for good grades or completing driver education courses can help reduce costs.

Your age and the vehicle’s power are two factors, according to a former auto insurance broker. Don’t be a puppet driving a two-liter car that your parents bought you when you were seventeen. An older, one-liter car that is inexpensive to replace up to a one- or two-year no-claims bonus. After that, it will drop sharply. Following that, the standard rating criteria profession, miles traveled, postcode, and extra drivers apply.

However, the typical range for young drivers that is, drivers between the ages of 18 and 24 is 1500 to 2000.

Is the rate still high if I list my teen daughter as an additional driver and not the primary driver of the car? My daughter just got her license and I am personally not ready to pay a lumpsum for a first time driver’s insurance.
