Can I buy car insurance before purchasing a car?

Hey all, I bought a Corolla and got insurance from a “cartoon character” at the dealership. A kid on a Kawasaki crashed into my new car, which was totaled. My insurance has not been paid, and I am stuck with $5,000 in legal fees. The bank still demands payments even though the car is worthless. Has anyone faced a similar situation? What should I do next?

You must initiate insurance coverage on the vehicle by the day you want to take possession in order to be able to drive it lawfully and to have it insured for damages.

It is a good idea to speak with an insurance company before you go car buying. In this manner, the insurance can provide you with a price as soon as you locate a car you are thinking about buying. You can ask them to activate the vehicle policy on any date you choose if you accept the quote.

You need insurance before you drive the car off the lot. Arrange coverage before paying or signing the contract. Request it to start at noon, so you can wait in the parking lot until the coverage begins. Get the insurance cover letter emailed to you; the receipt is usually enough until the full documents and sticker arrive.
