I was talking to a family member about this, and they said you can just cancel your car insurance whenever you want and stop paying. But I always thought once you get insurance, you have to pay for at least 6 months or so before you can cancel. And if you do cancel early, there might be a big fee. Which one is true?

Requesting the bank to cancel the direct debit to avoid incurring a cancellation fee
Your buddies’ startling lack of basic life skills is apparent.
To begin with, it is extremely upsetting when an insurance cancels a policy. In the future, your premiums will be much higher.
Second, paying monthly entails taking out a little loan, which is why it is a little more expensive. Your credit score will drastically decrease and a credit agency will pursue you if you fail to make payments on that loan.
Simply follow the right procedure.
The policy might be canceled at any moment. The day the new policy takes effect is when I would do it. You would receive a refund for any money you have previously paid to USAA.
