I’m new to handling car insurance and want to know what to expect if I need to file a claim. Can anyone explain the steps involved in a car insurance claim, from reporting the incident to receiving compensation?

Sure thing @Ivy
- Report the Incident: Contact your insurance company as soon as possible after the incident. Have details like the date, time, location, and description ready.
- Claim Assessment: An adjuster will assess the damage and determine coverage based on your policy.
- Repair Estimates: Get repair estimates from approved shops or provide them to your insurer.
- Approval and Repairs: Once approved, repairs can begin. You may need to pay your deductible.
- Compensation: After repairs, your insurer will compensate you based on your coverage and deductibles.
- Resolution: Close the claim when all repairs are complete and you’re satisfied.
Remember, keep communication open with your insurer throughout the process.
First of all, file a complaint with the police and lodge an FIR. Submit a copy of the FIR to the insurance company. Once you receive the final police report (Non-traceable report stamped by the court), make a copy of it and submit it to your insurance provider.
