Does Car Insurance Cover Theft?

Hi people…I just discovered that my car was stolen, and I’m devastated. I have car insurance, but I’m not sure if theft is covered under my policy. Can anyone clarify whether standard car insurance typically covers theft?

If so, what steps should I take to file a claim? And are there any important details or documents I need to gather? Any advice or past experiences with theft claims would be really helpful right now.

Regular car insurance likely won’t cover theft, but comprehensive coverage usually does. File a police report first, then contact your insurer with your policy info and car documents. They’ll help you file a claim and cover the car’s value (minus deductible) if not recovered.

If it is totaled, insurance will pay out the value or fix it.

Hey there.
Theft insurance compensates the value of the vehicle less the deductible. If the market is 18-21, expect 17-20.
