My wife and I have roadside assistance included in our Progressive car insurance policy. I’m thinking about adding a AAA membership but wanted to know if anyone has had good or bad experiences with Progressive’s roadside assistance.
Hello @StephieStephie
My husband and I have Progressive roadside assistance too, and we’ve had a pretty good experience with it so far.
They offer services like towing, flat tire changes, battery jump-starts, and lockout assistance, which have all been reliable for us.
However, I’ve heard some mixed reviews—mostly about wait times. Adding a AAA membership could be beneficial if you want extra coverage and perks like travel discounts and extended towing ranges. It really depends on your specific needs and how often you think you’ll use the services. Hope this helps!
Progressive’s roadside assistance turned out to be disappointing. My agent assured me of 16 miles of free towing, but when I needed a tow to a mechanic just 7 miles away from where my car broke down on the interstate, I was asked to pay $158.76 by a third-party affiliate. This felt like a coercive tactic, leaving me feeling trapped. Progressive distanced themselves, stating they had outsourced the service to another company, and showed little accountability for the situation. My advice: stay away.
