How long do claims usually take?

Hey guys, On Saturday morning, I was involved in an accident through no fault of my own (a car ran a red light while I was already driving), and the police even mentioned on the report that it would not be my fault, despite the other driver’s attempts to claim they did nothing. This is the first time I have had to file a claim; am I meant to buy new car seats and be paid, or should I wait for the claim to be settled so they can pay for the new ones?

If you’re wondering about how long it’ll take for your claim to go through after a no-fault accident, it can vary. Usually, it depends on how smoothly everything moves with assessments and paperwork. It’s probably best to wait for the claim to be sorted before buying new car seats, just to be sure you get reimbursed correctly.

A claim can take anywhere from a few days to a few months to even years to resolve depending on the severity.

Hello there. Each claim is unique. Some move faster than others. Mostly depends on the conditions.

The length of time a case takes to settle a personal injury claim can vary significantly, simple cases where liability is admitted can be settled in around 12 months or so . Large, more complex, high-value cases can take longer to settle.

If you’re using your own collision coverage, expect things to move fast. Your adjuster should contact you within a day or two, and they’ll have a plan to fix or total your car within a week. If you’re using the other person’s coverage, it depends on their insurer’s investigation. This can take a while since it relies on their cooperation and the adjuster’s workload. There’s also no guarantee they’ll agree the other person was at fault or that their policy is active. If you need car seats now, buy the exact replacements and get reimbursed later. Make sure the accident meets the criteria for mandatory replacement.
