Do car insurance companies check grades to verify good student discounts?

I am still covered by my parents’ auto insurance, and I stopped attending university without telling them. They also registered me for a good student discount because they had no idea. To maintain the discount, State Farm now requires a printout of the grades that were emailed to them.

I am hoping an anonymous insurance representative can respond to this question, Is there a formal verification procedure in place with the universities? They don’t have access to validation if they have to ask me in the first place, isn’t that right?

Insurance companies like State Farm usually ask for proof of grades to verify the good student discount, but they don’t have direct access to your university records. They rely on you to provide the documentation, so if they’re asking for a grade printout, they can’t verify it directly with the school.

You are the only one who can send them the grades. You forfeit the discount if you don’t. I would advise against creating a phony report card if that is what you are considering doing. This would be seen as insurance fraud, and insurance fraud is highly serious. You will be dropped and reported for attempting to conduct insurance fraud if you are discovered. You will essentially become uninsurable going forward because most insurance companies won’t even provide a quote to a person who has attempted fraud in the past. When this occurs, if you can even find a non-standard carrier, your payment will be ten times what it is now. Not to mention that it’s a crime, and you risk going to jail if they decide to pursue you.

I would advise getting your own insurance if you don’t want to notify your parents that you aren’t enrolled in school because then you will be responsible for this.

I am employed with State Farm. Proof of grades that includes your name, the name of the institution, the grades, and the term the grades are for is the only way the discount will remain in effect. There is no getting around the proof, and if there is none after two weeks, the discount will be taken away.

You have to keep a B average (3.0) or higher, though, so perhaps you could inform your parents that you’re not eligible? Do you need to make up any missing assignments before your final scores are announced?

Is it okay if I PM you about this? Although my parents haven’t seen my transcript, I have qualifying grades. For the previous semester, may I just send it?
