How effective is Progressive's roadside assistance?

My wife and I have roadside help with our Progressive car insurance. I was thinking about also getting AAA membership. Does anyone have good or bad experiences with Progressive’s roadside help?

Do not use your insurance for roadside assistance. Many carriers treat it as a claim. Join AAA.

AAA is a well-known and established service with its own set of benefits and coverage.
Comparing AAA to Progressive, AAA is a bit more expensive than Progressive although they offer the same coverage.
Therefore I’ll recommend that you go for Progressive

You hit the nail on the head! I have Progressive’s roadside assistance too. It’s been a lifesaver a couple times, like that night my battery died at the grocery store. One call and they sent someone to jump us right away. Super convenient!

I can’t speak for AAA myself, but Progressive’s been great in a pinch. Maybe others here have experience with AAA and can chime in, but Progressive’s roadside assistance has worked well for us for sure.

My Progressive roadside assistance experience was awful! They said the first 15 miles of towing were free, but when my car broke down on the highway and I needed a tow just 7 miles away, they sent a text saying I had to pay $157.76! It seems they use outside companies that take advantage of people stuck on the side of the road. Progressive didn’t even seem to care! Be warned, their roadside assistance might not be what they advertise.
