Hi everyone, We were only stopped today. We made a huge mistake by neglecting to renew our auto insurance. Because of the gap, Progressive has already rejected a new policy for us. Because of it, our car was seized and my fiancé’s license was suspended. The officer explained that to get it out, we had to present documentation of registration and insurance. I just don’t know how to go about it.
- Renew car registration (online or DMV)
- Shop around for new insurance (be honest about lapse)
- Get proof of insurance (card)
- Contact impound lot with renewed registration & insurance proof to get your car back
For your fiancé’s license:
- Contact DMV about reinstatement process (fines, traffic school?)
Set up reminders for future renewals to avoid this hassle!
I didn’t know much about this. Thank you for the brief explanation @Shifting
Last week, I found myself in a similar situation after neglecting to renew my auto insurance. To resolve it, I took immediate action by reaching out to several insurance providers online and over the phone. Despite facing rejections from some due to the gap in coverage, I eventually found a provider willing to offer me a new policy. After securing the insurance, I presented the documentation to the authorities and was able to get my car released and my license reinstated. My advice would be to act quickly, explore all available options for insurance providers, and provide the necessary documentation as soon as possible to resolve the situation. Best of luck, and I hope everything works out smoothly for you.
Thanks for telling me about your experience! I’m glad that hasn’t happened to me yet, but it’s good to know what to do in case it does. Your advice is clear and useful.
It’s completely unfair. The fines and penalties for this are worse than for drunk driving.
I’ve made over $10,000 from my blog since April. I started it in November, so it’s definitely not dead.
It’s a regular word, so there’s no need to pronounce it differently in a data science context. It’s “eh-puck,” with stress on the first syllable. Just like “epic,” but with an unstressed vowel (schwa) in the second syllable.
