If I’m buying a used car for the first time, when do I buy insurance?

Hi guys, this month I am going to use my first income to purchase a car. Is it better to purchase insurance before or after I buy a car?

Congratulations on getting your first car. I suggest looking into insurance options before making the purchase. This will allow you to compare quotes and understand the potential costs.

In almost all states (except New Hampshire and Virginia), it’s illegal to drive without car insurance. You need at least the minimum liability insurance to legally operate your vehicle.

You should buy insurance for a used car before finalizing the purchase. Contact your insurance provider or broker to set up a policy and have coverage in place by the time you take ownership. This ensures you’re protected during the purchase process and immediately after driving the car.

You must initiate insurance coverage on the vehicle by the day you want to take possession in order to be able to drive it lawfully and to have it insured for damages.

It’s a good idea to speak with an insurance company before you go automobile buying. In this manner, the insurance can provide you with a price as soon as you locate a car you are thinking about buying. You can ask them to activate the vehicle policy on any date you choose if you accept the quote.

You want to be protected right away!
