Hi everyone, I have a question and hope someone can help. I was hit by a driver who didn’t have enough insurance to cover the damages. At the time, I only had uninsured motorist coverage with Progressive, not underinsured coverage. My lawyer says they need $50,000 to cover everything, but mentioned that more might have been possible with underinsured coverage. I just checked and I don’t have it. Is there any way to get more than $50,000? My lawyer asked if I live with anyone who might have insurance, but I live alone. I do have insurance with another company, but it wasn’t involved in the accident. Is there anything else I should tell my lawyer about to possibly get more compensation? Thanks for any advice.
From the faults company, you will get up to their policy limit. What are your policy limits for collision and medical coverage?
Okay, thank you. The coverage amounts are $25,000, $50,000, and $25,000. I know I have comprehensive, collision, and uninsured motorist coverage. I’m looking for the medical coverage details on my policy but can’t seem to find them. Could it be included in the $25,000, $50,000, $25,000 amounts? Sorry, I’m not very familiar with insurance numbers. I just get what I can afford.
I don’t know SC terms but this might help you understand what is covered by what.

Other regions have PIP and or Med Pay that covers you.
Alright, I researched it and have a basic understanding now. I’m not certain if this applies to my situation. I don’t recall paying additional insurance for these two and wasn’t aware if it was automatic or if I was supposed to pay for it through my insurance.
Collision coverage shows a dollar amount, with a $500 deductible listed below it.
I’m a personal injury lawyer in South Carolina, but I’m not representing you. My advice is to consult with your attorney directly and avoid discussing your case on social media.
Additionally, you might want to consider adding Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UIM) coverage to your vehicles. While it won’t apply to accidents that occurred before you added it, having it in place can be valuable for future incidents. Many people in South Carolina have very low coverage limits.
Alright, thanks a lot.
