What is Collision Car Insurance?

Hey car gurus, I’m staring at my auto insurance policy and feeling a little overwhelmed by all the coverage options. Collision insurance seems like it might be helpful, but honestly, I’m not sure if it’s necessary for me. Can someone break down what collision car insurance actually covers? Is it just for accidents where I hit another car, or does it include other things? I’ve heard it can even help if you accidentally bump a curb or run into a rogue shopping cart in the parking lot.

Hi guys a collision car insurance is a type of insurance coverage which helps pay for the cost of repairing and replacing your vehicle if it is damaged in a collision with another vehicle or object, such as a tree or even fence. This coverage is typically optional and is designed to protect your own vehicle regardless of who is at fault in the accident.

You haven’t been in an accident since you started driving a year ago. Best wishes. You’ve started the process. In addition, you’re making a terrible, terrible presumption.

For instance, I was first in line at a red light the last time I had to make an auto insurance claim. A large pickup was behind me. There was only a left turn lane in the lane to my left. That lane’s light changed to green. The only light to turn green was that one. Who would have guessed that the remaining lights had gone green? Yes, the pickup’s driver. After I reported an accident to my insurance, they fixed the vehicle and pursued the pickup driver to recoup the cost (a process known as subrogation).

If your car is damaged in an accident, collision insurance will cover the cost of replacement or repair, no matter who is at blame.

Godwin, thanks for sharing! For covering repairs or replacements for your automobile following collisions with other cars or objects, such as trees or fences, collision car insurance seems like a sensible choice. It’s comforting to know that your car can be protected, even if you weren’t at fault for the collision.
